Politics Predictions for 2010

Although red-blooded conservatives salivate over her 2012 potential, it’s not clear the erstwhile former Alaska governor really wants to challenge Obama for the presidency. She quickly tired of running her small state, a much simpler task than running a superpower. She doesn’t appear to want to pay her dues by fund-raising for Republican candidates. What she does enjoy though is her adoring fans—who could blame her? She also seems, like most of us, to enjoy making money. We suspect 2010 will see her doing some nation building of her own, along the lines of Oprah’s empire (or perhaps Rush Limbaugh’s). She’s sassy and telegenic; it’s only a matter of time before a smart TV executive snaps her up. She’ll keep her soap box and maybe even expand her influence, without having to go through a punishing election campaign. And she’ll probably make some handsome cash in the process. But the question remains: who’ll get her first? Conventional wisdom says Fox, but our money’s on a cable upstart like Bravo or Lifetime. They’re plucky and unconventional, some might say “mavericky.” Just like our Sarah.
